Winter season opening postponed – situation update
Update of 26 December 2025
Weather conditions over the past few days have led to improved snow coverage in the higher areas of the ski area, where slope preparation work is currently underway.
However, critical conditions remain in the lower part of Pesciüm, particularly along the lower section of the ski lift, which at present do not allow for a public opening under suitable conditions.
The team is working to complete snowmaking and slope preparation, making use of every favourable cold window, with the aim of gradually making the area skiable up to pole 5 of the ski lift, corresponding to the altitude of the area served by the beginner lift, as soon as conditions allow.
The ski area therefore remains closed to the public.
A new official update will be communicated tomorrow, 27 December, at 4:00 PM, based on the evolution of weather conditions and ongoing work.
We thank everyone for their understanding and patience.
Update of 23 December 2025
Following the press release published on 16 December, we inform you that weather conditions have not shown any significant improvement.
In the absence of new snowfall and with temperatures still too high for snowmaking, the ski area will remain closed in the coming days. The offer currently available, limited to a few skiable areas, does not allow for a public opening during the holiday period, which is typically characterised by higher visitor numbers.
The team continues to closely monitor the situation. A new update will be communicated on 26 December, based on the evolution of weather conditions.

Winter season opening: appointment on December 26th
After carefully reviewing the current situation, and in order to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests, we have decided to postpone the opening of the winter season at Airolo-Pesciüm to Friday, December 26, 2025.
Due to the unusually mild temperatures and the lack of snowfall in recent weeks, it has not been possible to build up enough snow or to use the snowmaking system on a regular basis. Although our technical team has worked continuously and activated the system whenever temperatures allowed, snow production has remained very limited.
At the moment, it would only be possible to open the magic carpet and the beginner ski lift, and only on a limited portion of the slopes. We believe this would not offer a proper ski experience, especially during the holiday period.
By postponing the opening, we hope to benefit from new snowfall and colder temperatures, allowing us to gradually open more facilities starting with the main ski lift up to pole 5, and later the rest of the ski area as soon as conditions make it possible.
We are closely monitoring the weather every day and will keep you informed of any updates. The snowfall currently in progress and early signs of changing weather are encouraging, although a full opening of the ski area requires between 50 and 80 cm of snow.
In recent years, snow has often arrived later than Christmas, but this has still allowed guests to enjoy good skiing conditions during the rest of the winter season.
In this situation, we kindly ask for a little more patience. We are ready to welcome guests and beginners as soon as conditions allow, and we hope the coming weeks will bring new snowfall and true winter conditions for enjoyable days on the snow at Airolo-Pesciüm.
