Sentiero Cristallina

An excursion that promises to put your physical endurance to the test whilst rewarding you with wonderful views of the surrounding mountain peaks. Not to be missed!

The Sentiero Cristallina is a very long itinerary (35km) that connects the Bedretto Valley to the Maggia Valley. It can be divided into 3 stages, each of which can be covered in one day:

- Airolo - Capanna Cristallina (Mountain hut)
- Capanna Cristallina - San Carlo (Val Bavona)
- San Carlo (Val Bavona) - Bignasco

Here we will only talk about the first stage, which starts from Airolo and leads to the Capanna Cristallina, from where you can decide whether to stay in the large and modern Capanna, equipped with an excellent infrastructure and space for 120 guests or ending the hike going back to the starting point.

The Sentiero Cristallina is a very interesting trekking because it allows you to pass many points of interest: high peat bogs and forest paths soon give way to a breathtaking path on the crest of the Bedretto Valley that seems perfect for a photo stop to admire the landscape. You will then cross rich alpine pastures that will lead you to magnificent lakes and fountains, until you reach the Cristallina pass and its spectacular view of the Basodino glacier.
