The Bedretto Valley Alps Road runs between Airolo and Ronco, at an altitude of 1700/1800 m.
This 13 km long trekking itinerary has no great differences in height, and can therefore be followed by anyone who wishes to take a substantial walk along the enchanting valley that gives it its name.
This route starts directly from Pesciüm, which can be easily reached by cable car from Airolo. A few steps from the starting point, an observation point offers a wonderful view of the valley opposite and the majestic Tremola, the old serpentine pass road of the Gotthard, which is not surprisingly called the longest road monument in Switzerland.
During your hike, stop and observe the unspoilt landscape that surrounds you: you will fill your ears with the sounds of nature and your eyes with bright colors. To taste the flavours of the region, you can stop at the Alpe Cristallina, which at an altitude of 1’800 metres is waiting for you to savour the fresh cheese produced on site.
After your stop, continue to the Alpe di Folcra (1921 m), the highest point you will reach during the hike. From there, the easy descent through the pastures will begin and take you to Ronco, where you can take the Postbus back to Airolo.
