Spectacular Race at the First Round of the Swiss Enduro Series in Airolo: Weber and Da Mocogno Triumph

The first round of the series in Airolo brought together top riders to compete on the scenic trails of this sunny Ticino cycling destination. The event was filled with excitement, intense duels, and unexpected twists that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

In the elite men's category, it was a tight battle between Basil Weber and Igor Müller. After last year’s series winner, Tim Bratschi, was forced to withdraw due to a crash in the second stage, the door opened for Weber and Müller. Despite the local crowd's support for Müller, Weber managed to pull away during the long stages 3 and 4, ultimately securing the victory.

The fight for the third spot on the podium was equally fierce, with Mirco Widmer and former u21 rider, Nik Küttel, locked in a thrilling duel. With strong performances in stages 2 and 4, Widmer claimed the bronze, proving to be in excellent form.

The women's race also delivered a great show under the warm summer sun of Airolo. Delia Da Mocogno, determined to win, dominated all stages except the third, securing the overall victory. Austrian rider Hanna Steinthaler, making her series debut, held second place for most of the day but was eventually overtaken by Melanie Pugin, who clinched the runner-up spot. Local athlete Claudia Grassi finished in eighth place.

This first round kicked off the cicuit in an exciting way, leaving everyone eager for the upcoming challenges. Airolo once again proves to be a key destination for enduro cycling enthusiasts, offering top-level races and stunning landscapes.
