Summer 2025: A look back at the season
With the summer season closing on Sunday 28 September, it's time to take stock and thank everyone who chose Airolo-Pesciüm for their days in the mountains. It's been a summer marked by major events that one that reinforced the importance of gradually developing our outdoor activities offering.
From 19 June to 28 September, we were open for 92 days, with some closures due to bad weather, welcoming a total of 7,405 visitors. This result represents a 29% increase compared to 2024, when first passages totalled 5,741 over 103 days of operation. Despite a shorter season than previous years, average daily attendance was higher than in both 2024 and 2023, a positive sign of the continuing growth potential of Airolo’s summer offering.
Among the improvements implemented, we introduced a Pump Track at the cable car base station, which saw consistent use from both young riders and more experienced bikers. To support our MTB clientele, we also installed a new TCS SOS Bike emergency repair station. On the management and safety front, following an inspection on 21 July, Airolo earned the right to use Swiss Cableways' "Certified Summer Activities" mark, valid until 2028.
The events calendar gave rhythm to the season. On 19 June, the Airolo Bike Opening launched the summer with Merida bike testing and guided tours with RideAlps. On 22 June, the Clean-Up Tour took place, a day dedicated to clearing the area and raising environmental awareness. In July, MTB Kids courses, organised on the 16th, 23rd and 30th with RideAlps, encouraged young people to take up mountain biking through a structured training approach.
The season's highlight came on 8 and 9 August, when Airolo hosted the fourth round of the Swiss Enduro Series and, for the first time in Ticino, the Swiss Enduro Championships. Around 400 athletes competed on the Airolo Bike Park trails, in a weekend of tremendous sporting and organisational visibility, made possible thanks to collaboration with Velo Club Bellinzona, RideAlps, sponsors and numerous volunteers. Among the most notable results, Claudia Grassi's third place in the Elite Women's category and her selection for the World Championships.
Rounding out the mountain experience, Bar La Chièuna, Ristorante La Stüa, and the Pesciüm Package offered dining and relaxation options, while the Grill & Chill evenings, held every Saturday in September, provided a friendly way to end the day.
Now we're looking ahead to the approaching winter season, with the aim of welcoming guests and enthusiasts back to our slopes and continuing the year-round development of our destination.
Thank you to everyone who made the 2025 summer season possible. We can't wait to welcome you back here in Airolo.
