Summer 2026: Looking back at the Season Just Ended

With the summer season 2026 coming to an end on Sunday, 13 September, it is time for us to take stock and, above all, to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who chose Airolo-Pesciüm for their days in the mountains. Especially this summer, when the heat was making itself felt down in the valley, the cool mountain air up here offered a welcome breath of fresh air.

We warmed up with an opening over two weekends in June (20–21 and 27–29 June), before we opened continuously from 4 July onwards. During the 2026 summer season, we guaranteed 73 days of operation, with a few days of closure due to bad weather, and recorded a total of 7’668 first-time passages. Despite being open for 19 fewer days than during the previous summer season, the overall number of first-time passages increased. This is a positive sign that highlights the continued growth potential of Airolo’s summer offering.

The events calendar gave the season its rhythm. On 20 June, the Airolo Bike Opening kicked off the season at Airolo Bike Park, with bike tests by Merida Bikes and RideUp, guided tours with RideAlps and the “Ride with Claudia Grassi” sessions. The following day, it was time for the Clean-Up Tour (21 June), a day dedicated to taking care of the area and raising awareness about the environment. In July, the MTB Kids courses, held on 9, 16 and 23 July with RideAlps and Claudia Grassi, gave younger riders the opportunity to discover mountain biking through a structured, educational and fun approach.

Then came what we could call a true trilogy of national events. On 11 July, the Coop Family Hike stopped off with us, offering an entertaining hiking experience designed for the whole family. At the end of August (29–30 August), our bike park once again became the stage for the Swiss Enduro Series, which returned to Airolo for the fifth time. This year brought a major new feature: live streaming on YouTube, allowing everyone to follow the races live, also thanks to the maxiscreen set up in the event village at the cable car departure station. It was also a special occasion to congratulate Claudia Grassi, an athlete we are proud to support. With an excellent performance, she secured 2nd place in the Elite Women category, improving last year’s result in Airolo by one position. And to bring the final weekend of the season to a close in style, our resort hosted Migros Hiking Sounds on 12 and 13 September, bringing music to the peaks of the Swiss Alps. Renowned artists such as 77 Bombay Street, Luca Hänni and Lo & Leduc performed on stage, rounding off the season with two days of music and celebration.

And we must not forget Lüina: Friday evenings with themed nights and Sunday mornings with brunch. A great way to spend a few hours in the mountains, enjoying good food and good company. Completing the offering, Bar La Chièuna, Restaurant La Stüa and the Pesciüm Package helped make the mountain experience even more complete.

Now our attention is already turning towards the winter season, which is just around the corner.
