Winter Season 2025/26: A Look Back at the Season
Yesterday, Sunday 29 March, we bid farewell to the 2025/26 winter season. While our cable car enjoys its well-deserved rest, we are taking one last look back before turning the page.
This year, Lady Snow was fashionably late, initially leaving our snow groomers to contend with a "menu" far too rich in rocks. We opened our resort from 16 to 19 December exclusively for schools, and then from 27 December for the public with a limited initial opening. Although skis stayed in the cellar this Christmas, winter fortunately doesn't end on 25 December. By late January, nature finally remembered it was winter and gradually began to blanket our slopes in white, allowing for a full opening of the ski resort.
Throughout this season, we welcomed the public for 89 days and schools for 93. Thanks to our team's hard work, the slopes remained in perfect condition until the very last day. We recorded a total of 40'765 visitors. Even with 15 fewer opening days compared to last winter season, the daily average remained practically the same as the previous year (almost 450 per day).
The biggest innovation this season concerned public transport: direct connections from Varese and Como to Airolo, a bus stop closer to the cable car, and the Arcobaleno ticket (2nd class) included in the day pass. Reaching the Airolo-Pesciüm lifts has never been easier, more sustainable, or more affordable.
The events calendar set the rhythm of the season. Airolo was the beating heart of international freestyle, hosting three major events: the Raiffeisen FIS Freestyle Europa Cup Moguls / Dual Moguls (2–3 Feb), the Raiffeisen FIS Freestyle Europa Cup Aerials (7–8 March) and the highlight of the season, the Raiffeisen FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships (19–22 March). But it wasn’t just about freestyle. Families and youngsters enjoyed the Grand-Prix Migros (28 Feb) and the Migros Ski Day (1 March). To round off the season, we also hosted the alpine skiing races of the PluSport Swiss Championships (27–29 March).
Our heartfelt thank you goes to the ski clubs and ski schools that chose Airolo this winter, to our partners, and to all of you who came to ski at our resort. It has been a season full of sporting events and social moments that brought our station to life, engaging athletes, families, young people, and enthusiasts from across Switzerland and the world.
And now, it’s time to dust off the bikes and get warming up. See you in Airolo-Pesciüm on 20 June for the opening of the summer season. In addition to the Airolo Bike Park, summer brings the Coop Family Hike (11 July), the Swiss Enduro Series (29–30 August), the Migros Hiking Sounds (12–13 September), and many other events. We can't wait!
